Pipelines & subsea infrastructure

Pipeline and subsea infrastructure engineering, from route selection and hydraulic studies to detailed design and laying analysis. We bring the line, its supports and its seabed interfaces into a coordinated scope.

Pipeline leaving a vessel through stern handling equipment

Route and laying engineering

  • Route assessment, seabed constraints and pipeline crossing arrangements.
  • Pipeline laying analysis, installation configurations and support requirements.
  • Free-span assessment and on-bottom stability under hydrodynamic loading.

Subsea structures and foundations

  • Pipeline end manifolds (PLEM) and pipeline end terminations (PLET).
  • Mudmat sizing and foundation interfaces, using the available geotechnical design basis.
  • Crossing structures, sliding and fixed supports, and pipe-to-structure interfaces.

Hydraulics and process interfaces

  • Pressure-drop calculations to assess hydraulic requirements along the line.
  • Definition and review of operating inputs, line geometry and fluid properties for the agreed calculation scope.
  • Coordination of process requirements with mechanical and subsea design.

Detailed design and delivery

  • Structural verification, connections, material selection and corrosion-protection interfaces.
  • Arrangement drawings, fabrication details and technical specifications.
  • Coordination with procurement, fabrication and installation teams.

Connected expertise

Planning your engineering scope

Can pipeline and support design be developed together?

Yes. The pipe, supports, crossings and end structures are considered as connected interfaces. We agree the design basis, installation conditions and responsibilities at the outset.

What information helps define a pipeline study?

Route and bathymetric data, soil information, pipe geometry and materials, environmental conditions, operating pressures, temperatures and fluid properties help establish the study. Available information and gaps are reviewed before modelling begins.
