Structural Lead Engineer
Bring structural judgement to offshore projects and help our design team grow. Based in Nice, you will guide work from early load paths and concepts to checked calculations and buildable details.
The work you will help shape
- Lead structural scopes for offshore steelwork, subsea equipment, installation aids and selected EPCI packages.
- Establish the design basis, load cases and analysis strategy, working with hydrodynamics and installation engineers to understand interfaces.
- Develop and review global and local finite element models, and assess strength, buckling, fatigue, connections, welds and bolting as the scope requires.
- Keep engineering calculations and CAD deliverables aligned, from concept and FEED through detailed design and fabrication documentation.
- Discuss practical details with suppliers and fabrication teams, and support the resolution of technical queries during delivery.
- Review deliverables, mentor colleagues and help develop consistent calculation and checking methods.
- Contribute to proposals, scope definition and coordination with clients and project managers.
What you bring
- A background in structural, civil, mechanical or offshore engineering, with practical experience of steel structures.
- Confident finite element analysis using tools such as Femap / Nastran or ANSYS, supported by independent engineering checks.
- Good understanding of load paths, stability, fatigue, connection design and fabrication constraints.
- Experience applying relevant offshore and structural design standards to a defined project scope.
- An ability to guide others, review work constructively and communicate design decisions in clear technical English.
- A collaborative attitude toward CAD, marine and subsea colleagues; French is useful for day-to-day work in Nice.
What you will find here
- An office-based role in Nice, France, contributing to international offshore and marine projects.
- The opportunity to develop the structural discipline and support the people working within it.
- Close contact with the full design process, including calculations, drawings, fabrication interfaces and installation considerations.
- An engineering environment where careful checking, practical details and knowledge sharing are valued.
- Contract arrangements, start date and individual terms discussed with you during recruitment.
